BEV sales boost UK’s new car market in May
The UK’s new car market was once again boosted by sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), which increased 58.7% in May to become the second most popular powertrain in the month.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said on Monday BEV registrations totalled 24,513 units and a market share of 16.9% in May. This compares to a 5.3% increase in petrol car sales and a 24.4% decline in diesel car registrations.
