Australian court fines FQM over 2017 safety incident
FQM Australia Nickel, a subsidiary of First Quantum Minerals, has been fined AUD 35,000 ($26,000) by an Australian court for failing to provide a safe working environment, Kallanish reports.
According to the department of mines, industry regulation and safety (DMIRS) for Western Australia, a tank rupture in 2017 has endangered a worker, after spilling more than 10,000 litres of hot acidic slurry at the company’s Ravensthorpe nickel operations.
