Under the patronage of the Chairman of the Federation of Saudi Chambers Mr. Hassan Bin Mujab Al Howaizy, NCSI hosted the 1st NCSI-Kallanish Steel Seminar on 16th September 2024, from 9am- 4:15pm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

The Gulf Cooperation Council has long been a production powerhouse for oil and gas, the hydrocarbons that have fuelled the global economy. Over the last decade, the bloc’s governments have embarked on a mission to diversify and add value to their economic output. Steel, as the foundation of economic development, has played a critical role. As well as in their domestic markets, the region’s steelmakers have looked to increase their presence abroad, exporting more than at any time in the GCC’s history. Now, with the focus on the environment, the region, with its abundant solar and wind power potential, and prime geographic location between East and West, stands to become a low-emission iron and steel powerhouse, supplying consumers both at home and abroad.

Harariyat Arabia Refractory Factory Co

Refractories originated in 1993 and based in the city of Dammam Second Industrial Zone to provide the provision of material contract for the smelting of each Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the vision and determination of her team began to provide and provide materials based on magnesia to Saudi Arabia markets from large, such as iron SABIC companies and Qatar Steel and then moved To provide materials to other iron companies such as Al-Tuwairqi and Al-Rajhi Steel Group.

The company has developed over the years and entered the field of providing alumina materials to its customers and expanded to cover all GCC countries beginning in Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain. Over the past 20 years, the company has become one of the largest and leading companies in the field of resistance resistance in all GCC countries and produces more than 35 products covering alumina and magnesium-based products.

UNICOIL (Universal Metal Coating Company)

UNICOIL (Universal Metal Coating Company) was established in 1997 as the first company in the Middle East to manufacture pre-painted steel and aluminum coils, and since then it has emerged as a leader in the steel coil coating and pre-painting industry in regional markets.

With manufacturing facilities located in the industrial cities of Al-Jubail and Jeddah, its five production lines now have installed annual production capacities of 400,000 metric tons for HRC pickling, 340,000 metric tons for CRC, 250,000 metric tons for Galvanized Steel Coils, 210,000 metric tons of Pre-Painted Steel Coils, plus 18 million linear meters of Roll Formed Steel Sheets. UNICOIL now occupies a dominant position in the Middle East and North Africa regions.

Saudi Iron & Steel Company(HADEED)

Located in Jubail, HADEED was established in 1979, and began production in 1983. HADEED produces steel rebar, wire rod, hot rolled coils, cold rolled coils, galvanized cold, color-coated coils.

Al-Ittefaq Steel Products Company (ISPC)

Al-Ittefaq Steel Products Company (ISPC) is one of the largest and reputed steel manufacturers in GCC and considered as the Largest Private Sector Steel Manufacturer in KSA. The Integrated Facility – embraced with state of art technologies, skilled manpower, continuous innovation/ investment and social responsibilities. ISPC has production facilities that deliver DRIC, Billets, Reinforced Steel Bars, and Downstream Premium Steel Products. All products meet the highest quality standards and comply with both local and international standards.

ISPC is capable to produce 2.5 Million Tons of Reinforcement Rebar and Wire Rod (Deformed & Plain). The subsidiaries companies: National Steel Company (NASCO) and Arab Steel Company (ASCO) are its UP-Stream companies – produce 2 Million Tons of Billets, Direct Reduction Iron Company (DIRC) is capable to produce 1.4 Million Tons of DRI by using natural gas, Al-Faisal Steel Company (FSPC) a Down-Stream Company produces 600,000 Tons of value added products like Epoxy Coated Rebars, Cut & Bend, Wire-Mesh, Cold Drawn Wire, Galvanized Wire, PC Strand.

Solb Steel

Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Established in 2008. SOLB Steel Co (formerly known as South Steel Co) engages in the production of steel. The company manufactures and markets steel billets and concrete reinforcement bars.

Al Yamamah Company for Reinforcing Steel Bars

Al Yamamah Company for Reinforcing Steel Bars was established in 2003 with paid Capital of 300 Million.

The primary objective is to set up an integrated Steel Plant for an annual production of more than 1.5 million tons of Reinforcing Steel to support the on-going construction activities arising from Urban and Economic growth in the Kingdom and Gulf Region.

The site of the project was strategically chosen to be on theRed Sea which is known as the highway of the shipping industry.

The city of Yanbu was chosen for the project as this city is known to be the second largest Industrial City in the Kingdom after Jubail Industrial City as well as it is nearby all major cities in the kingdom.

One million square meters of land was assigned for the project in Yanbu Industrial City.

The construction of the first phase started in  2005 and the commissioning of the plant started in 2008 with a capacity of about 700,000 tons of steel bars annually.

By applying the best available technology in steel production, the company was successful in producing high quality Steel Bars under trade name “Yamamah Steel” and Mark “~” in sizes ranging from 8mm to 36mm which meet the highest Saudi standards as well as the International standards such as ASTM.

Al Qaryan Steel Company

Al Qaryan Steel Company was formed in KSA, Dammam in 2012 between Al Qaryan Group (75%) and Al Wabel for Trading and Industry (25%). The first facility of the company was a billet steel plant started the operation on March 2017. The 300,000 t/y of steel billets steel plant built on technology and equipment supplied from SMS Concast. The facilities include four induction furnaces from ABP, a ladle furnace, a continuous billet caster and ancillary equipment. The company target the re-rolling of rebars, sections and wire rod in the local and regional markets.

ArcelorMittal

ArcelorMittal Jubail, Tubular Products has a 51% participation in a joint venture agreement with the Bin Jarallah Group of companies for the design and construction of a seamless tube mill in Saudi Arabia.

This state of the art facility will be located in Jubail Industrial City, north of Al Jubail on the Persian Gulf. The mill will have a capacity of 600,000 tons per year. About two thirds of its capacity will be used for OCTG, and the remainder for line pipe, in sizes ranging from 4 inch to 14 inch. Its location provides access to international sea lanes through the Persian Gulf as well as proximity to energy sources. The management and operations will be under control of ArcelorMittal’s Tubular Products Division.

United Sulb Company

SULB is a specialized producer of structural steel products ranging from light to medium and heavy sections. The $1.4 billion fully integrated SULB plant in Bahrain is the first and only one of its kind in the region, encompassing DRI to finished steel product. Together with a sister plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the two SULB facilities cover a total area of 539,342 m2.

SULB has been in a position to supply structural steel to most of the region’s landmark construction projects. The GCC has seen a large increase in construction over the last decade and will continue to offer $2 trillion worth of opportunities. SULB can produce up to one million tons per year of structural steel, enabling it to cater to this vast construction growth.

Launched in 2009, with production starting in 2012, SULB is a joint venture between Bahrain’s Foulath Holding and leading steel-manufacturing company, Yamato Kogyo.

Foulath’s vision to create a fully integrated steel complex from ore to finished steel has given rise to the giant SULB steel plant. SULB enjoys a unique advantage of an assured supply of raw materials in the form of Iron ore pellets provided by sister company Bahrain Steel, “across the fence”.
SULB Bahrain’s state-of-the-art mill is based in Hidd and covers an area of 347,342 km. It has the capacity to produce 600,000 T/Y (Metric Tons per Year). The area is known as the ‘home of steel’ in Bahrain. The Hidd site has access to the vessel Khalifa Bin Salman Port, facilitating the export of finished products to world markets.

Strategically located on the island of Bahrain, SULB has some of the best logistical networks, providing easy access to international markets by sea and road via the King Fahd Causeway to Saudi Arabia.

SULB Saudi Arabia, in the Jubail Industrial Complex 150 km from the Bahrain facility, was established in 2011. This site is a 450,000 T/Y plant, focusing on the production of light to medium sections.

Gulf Ferro Alloys Company (“Sabayek”)

Gulf Ferro Alloys Company (“Sabayek”) is a Limited Liability Company operating in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Jubail). The Company was incorporated in December 1992 under the Saudi Companies Law as a Saudi Joint Venture Company, production commenced in 1997 in the industrial city of Jubail. 

Sabayek produces Ferro Alloys that are considered essential additives in the steel making industry. Sabayek has a maximum capacity of 140,000 metric ton with the ability to cover the GCC needs in Ferro Alloys. 

The key features of SABAYEK’s operations are its flexibility to meet specific requirements of the market. This is because the plant’s four 27 MVA submerged arc furnaces are interchangeable. Each of the furnaces can be changed to produce a different ferroalloy according to the needs of the market. SABAYEK’s plant and equipment are state-of-the-art and the products are manufactured to the quality of international standards.
